We are Tongångarne, Gothenburg’s best student orchestra, a big band with woodwinds! Made up of mostly Gothenburg University students and alumni, we have a mix of international and Swedish students. We play a wide range of music from Swedish schlager, to disco, modern pop, and even our own original songs! Our regular schedule includes a few yearly concerts, the Student Orchestras Festival (STORK/SOF), Göta Studentkår’s Valborg parade, Science Fiction Bokhandeln’s Nördparad, and some sittning gigs, so there’s never a dull moment! We regularly share the stage with Patriciabaletten, our student ballet sister association. 

Tongångarne was founded in 1962, and we have had a home (which we call LARM) in Göta Studentkår’s Studenternas Hus for many years. Since the beginning, Tongångarne has been unmissable in our bright red jackets, and we’ve played everything from our own sold-out concerts in Konserthuset and the Pripps Brewery 150 year Jubilee, to yearly student orchestra festivals and international tours.
